What is Woodland Connection?
Woodland Connection is a gentle, guided nature therapy programme. In the welcoming and inviting space, you’ll step away from daily pressures and reconnect with yourself, community and the rhythms of nature.
Through a mix of sensory practices, creative activities, and simple rituals, you’ll be supported to slow down, breathe deeply, and find calm, clarity and connection.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed, in treatment, recovering, or living beyond cancer, this is a space just for you.
Why Nature Therapy?
Time spent in natural environments is increasingly recognised as a powerful complement to conventional cancer care. Research has shown that nature therapy can:
Reduce stress and anxiety - nature walks lower levels of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline
Boost mood, emotional wellbeing & resilience - being in nature lifts spirits, eases low mood and fosters a sense of calm
Support immune system function - exposure to tree-scent phytoncides can promote activity in natural killer (NK) cells, which play a role in fighting infection and cancer
Improve quality of life and reduce fatigue - studies of nature-based programmes for those living with cancer have shown improvements in psychological wellbeing, reduced stress and enhanced quality of life
Ease isolation & build community - shared nature sessions offer connection, support and a sense of belonging
Nature doesn’t just change the view, it can change how you feel and heal.
What to Expect in a Woodland Connection Session
In a small, supportive group (max 10 people), guided by experienced facilitators, you’ll be invited to:
Walk mindfully through the space, soaking in the sights, sounds, and scents
Engage in gentle creative, reflective or ritual-based activities (journaling, natural art, simple woodland crafts)
Pause for shared reflection, gentle movement or rest
Connect with others who understand in a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space
Whether you come quietly to observe or choose to participate, everyone is welcome.
Woodland Connection taps into seasonal themes with a gentle invitation to reflect, heal and grow in tune with the cycles of nature.
